Si su pasado se recuerda b&aacute;sicamente por <strong>Phantasma<\/strong> (<em>Phantasm<\/em>, 1979), hay que reconocer que <strong>El se&ntilde;or de las bestias<\/strong> (<em>The Beastmaster<\/em>, 1982) ha envejecido peor que mal y hasta el 2002 no hizo nada diferente, su &uacute;ltima d&eacute;cada queda enmarcada desde ya como era dorada de madurez cinematogr&aacute;fica de un tipo que ha logrado mantenerse, supongo que obligado por las circunstancias, en ese rango de independencia  absoluta en la que prima la sentencia &quot;<em>hago lo que me viene en gana guste o no<\/em>&quot;. Tras adaptar en 2002 un relato de <strong>Joe R. Lansdale<\/strong>, resultando en la tronchante y ya m&iacute;tica <strong>Bubba Ho-Tep<\/strong> (2002) con los fabulosos <strong>Bruce Campbell<\/strong> y <strong>Ossie Davis<\/strong> enfrent&aacute;ndose a una momia, <strong>Coscarelli<\/strong> vuelve a las andadas con otra &quot;obra maestra&quot; de la lisergia m&aacute;s pura llevando a la gran pantalla una novela completamente desconocida y aleatoria escrita por un tal <strong>David Wong<\/strong> (alias de <strong>Jason Pirgin<\/strong>, el creador de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cracked.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.cracked.com<\/a>) en el 2001. <strong>Wong<\/strong> \/ <strong>Pirgin<\/strong> se descubre adem&aacute;s como un tipo que da la sensaci&oacute;n se ha debido nutrir durante varios meses de productos alucin&oacute;genos de amplio espectro. El resultado esto.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Dies at the End<\/strong> cuenta la historia de dos j&oacute;venes, <strong>Dave<\/strong> (<strong>Chase Williamson<\/strong>) y <strong>John<\/strong> (<strong>Rob Mayes<\/strong>), que tras probar una nueva droga que circula por la calle y que se conoce como &quot;salsa de soja&quot;, comienzan a notar cosas extra&ntilde;as. En primer lugar pueden ver acontecimientos que ocurrir&aacute;n en el futuro, lo que les permite jugar con ventaja desde el presente, siendo tambi&eacute;n capaces de dar saltos interdimensionales o descubrir como en nuestro mundo hay una especie de invasores \/ monstruos que ha llegado desde otro universo paralelo para preparar el camino a algo m&aacute;s grande. El film se narra desde la perspectiva de <strong>Dave<\/strong>, quien cuenta la historia a <strong>Arnie<\/strong>, un periodista al que pone cara el genial <strong>Paul Giamatti<\/strong>. El elenco de actores lo completan otro buen <em>pack<\/em> de mitos y buenos actores como <strong>Clancy Brown<\/strong>, <strong>Glynn Turman<\/strong>, <strong>Doug Jones<\/strong> o, en un peque&ntilde;o papel, <strong>Angus Scrimm<\/strong>. Con estos mimbres <strong>Coscarelli<\/strong> logra un imposible, juntar en un mismo paquete terror, ciencia ficci&oacute;n y comedia, todo ellos regado con muy buenas interpretaciones  y situaciones algo m&aacute;s que surrealistas y inimaginables. Una delicia con un ritmo imparable, entretenimiento asegurado y que, crucemos los dedos, deber&iacute;a llegar a nuestro pa&iacute;s de la mano de Aurum un mes de estos. Me lo pas&eacute; como una enano y me re&iacute; como hac&iacute;a tiempo que no lo hac&iacute;a.
