Al fin he podido ver la última peli del grandioso Bruce Campbell<\/a> como protagonista, sin contar con The Man with the Screaming Brain<\/a> (2005), aquí mi reseña a este viejo proyecto<\/a>. Después de mucho esperar a conseguirla con subtítulos, el americano callejero es demasiado complicado para entender, he podido disfrutarla al máximo y sacar mis propias conclusiones… mola un huevo!<\/p>\n

Estoy hablando de Bubba Ho-Tep<\/a> (2002), film dirigido por Don Coscarelli<\/a>, director de culto en el cine de terror gracias a la saga Phantasma<\/a> con Angus "El Hombre Alto" Scrimm<\/a> y Reggie Bannister<\/a>, e interpretado por Bruce "Don’t call me Ash" Campbell<\/strong> y Ossie Davis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

La película cuenta una historia la mar de simpática, Elvis Presley<\/strong> (Bruce Campbell<\/em>) pasa sus últimos días en un geriátrico después de desaparecer del mundo social gracias a un cambio que hizo con un imitador. Ahora conocido como Sebastian Haff<\/strong>, y con la cadera rota, lamenta haber dejado su vida exitosa y piensa en lo que ha hecho y lo que podría haber hecho. Allí "disfruta" de la compañía de John Fitzgeral Kennedy<\/strong> (Ossie Davis<\/em>), oculto por el gobierno americano tras su simulada muerte en un cuerpo negro. Por lo tanto: Elvis<\/strong> vive! y JFK<\/strong> es negro! Fabuloso. Unos sucesos extraños empiezan a acontecer en el geriátrico, una momia comedora de almas de la decimoséptima dinastía vestida de cowboy, y acompañada por unas cucarachas gigantes, está dando cuenta de los pobres ancianitos. Todo esto lleva a que Elvis<\/strong> y JFK<\/strong> unan sus fuerzas para poder terminar con los asesinatos y con la momia Ho-Tep<\/strong>… Este es básicamente el argumento del esta película que está basada en uno de los relatos de Joe R. Lansdale<\/a>, autor americano conocido como el maestro del Weird Western<\/em>.<\/p>\n

El resultado obtenido ofrece bastante más de lo que uno puede esperar, no sólo tenemos frikismo puro, tenemos unas muy buenas interpretaciones de Campbell<\/strong> y Davis<\/strong> que aportan profundidad a los personajes explicando el porqué de sus actuales situaciones. En fin, muy pero que muy recomendable para los fans del maestro Campbell<\/strong>, dispone de algunos chistes cachondísimos y gracias al maquillaje Bruce<\/strong> es Elvis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
